Former Star Declares Hard Leeds United View And Awaits Answer To Whites Litmus Test

Former star declares 'hard' Leeds United view and awaits answer to Whites 'litmus test'

Jermaine Beckford believes Leeds United under Jesse Marsch have made progress

Former Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford has provided a frank verdict on the progress the Whites have made under manager Jesse Marsch.

Beckford, who scored 86 goals in 183 appearances for Leeds between 2008 and 2012, believes the American has made significant strides since taking charge in February 2022.

However, he also believes there is still room for improvement, and that the upcoming clash with Manchester United will provide a litmus test for Marsch's side.

Beckford: Leeds have made 'hard' progress under Marsch

Speaking on the Leeds Live podcast, Beckford said: "I think there has been an improvement. There's been a hard improvement because he's had to make changes and he's had to change the mindset of players.

"I think the recruitment has been good, the players that he's brought in have been really good. I think he's got a good squad. I like the way that he wants to play. It's just about the players now buying into it and performing on the pitch and getting the results that everyone wants.

Man Utd clash a 'litmus test' for Leeds

Leeds travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Sunday in a match that could have major implications for both sides.

Beckford believes the game will be a stern test for Marsch's side, but one that they can pass if they can maintain their recent form.

"I think the Manchester United game will be a litmus test for them," he said. "They've got a good squad, they've got a good manager, they've just got to perform and get the results now. They've got a tough game against Manchester United but it's one that they can win. They've just got to go out there and play their football and not be afraid.
