Sizes and Variations
Giant giraffes are truly awe-inspiring creatures, captivating with their colossal stature. They can reach impressive heights of up to 19 feet and weigh a staggering 2,600 pounds. While all giraffes share a lanky build and distinctive coat patterns, there are distinct subspecies with subtle variations in size and markings.
Masai Giraffe
The Masai giraffe is the largest subspecies, renowned for its towering height and striking black blotches. They primarily inhabit the grasslands of East Africa.
Reticulated Giraffe
The reticulated giraffe stands out with its intricate net-like pattern of large, reddish-brown patches on a cream-colored background. Found in the northern regions of Kenya and Somalia, this subspecies is slightly smaller than the Masai giraffe.
Diet and Behavior
