CANNES, France - A visibly upset Harrison Ford has spoken of the psychological pain that accompanies his work as an actor, as he received an honorary Palme d'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival.
"I'm very touched," the Hollywood icon said as he began his speech in the packed theater. "This is a great honor for me, and I'm very grateful."
Ford's voice trembled as he spoke of the challenges of acting, and the emotional toll it can take.
"It's not always easy," he said. "There are times when it's very difficult, and you have to draw on your own experiences to find the truth in the characters you're playing. And that can be very painful."
Ford received a standing ovation from the audience after his speech. He is the latest in a long line of legendary actors to receive the honorary Palme d'Or, which is awarded to those who have made significant contributions to the world of film.
